Well, Trae Young, that’s what you get for showing up Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks with that “shimmy” three in Game One. The Greek Freak made sure he replayed his up-and-under finger roll against Clint Capela for Young, and his 25 points and a smothering Buck defensive effort led to a 125-91 win that was pretty much over after Milwaukee’s 20-0 blitz late in the 2nd quarter. The Bucks threw a blanket over Young, who followed up his 48-point opening performance by scoring just 15 pts. on 6 of 16 shooting and made 9 turnovers.

As a team the Hawks shot just 25% from the field from long range and were outrebounded 47-34 by Milwaukee, which made 52% of its FGs overall in the game. All that being said, have to believe humiliated Atlanta capable of a bounce-back effort back at the State Farm Arena, where the Hawks are an impressive 22-4 SU in their last 26 home games. Milwaukee has been good (23-19 SU) on the road, but not great (only 17-24 vs. the number away from home), and lost 3 of 4 in Brooklyn in the last series.

Some positives emerged from the wipeout loss on Friday for Atlanta, however, as G Cam Reddish played for the first time since Feb. 21 and scored 11 points in 17 minutes and F Danilo Gallinari made some shots (4 of 7 FGs). Young has bounced back big-time after turning in below par performances recently, scoring 30 pts. or more in his last 5 games following being held to 16 points or fewer. Bucks now rank 2nd in the playoffs in net differential and first in defensive rating among all teams in postseason, so can’t diminish their accomplishments much, if at all.

Besides Giannis, Buck PG Jrue Holiday has become a headache for the Hawks, shooting 59% (50% on treys) and scoring 27.5 ppg in the first 2 games. On the down side for Milwaukee, Khris Middleton continued his postseason struggles, (6 of 13 FGs; 2-7 on threes), and has made just 33% of his shots over the first two in this series, and Bobby Portis struggled a bit in Game Two (8 pts. and 3 rebs. in 18 minutes) after a productive 15 minute stint in Game One (11 pts., 8 rebs). Given the circumstances and the smack in the face the Hawks received at the FiServ Forum Friday, believe Atlanta will respond accordingly and extend its strong winning record at State Farm. Play Atlanta.
