Attack on Titan’s S2 ED Hid the Events of S4 E21 in Plain Sight

***The following article contains MAJOR spoilers for the entirety of Attack on Titan up until this point. If you haven’t seen up until Season 4, Episode 21 of Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2, please come back after you’ve watched it.***

Considering the first episode ever of Attack on Titan is called To You, 2,000 Years From Now, anyone that saw that the most recent episode of Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 was called From You, 2000 Years Ago had to know that this one was going to be full of insane reveals and foreshadowing. Even knowing that ahead of time couldn’t have prepared fans for what came in S4 E21.

Whether it was the flashback to Ymir, Erin’s rebirth, or The Rumbling coming to life, just about every minute of From You, 2000 Years Ago was an absolute thrill ride. And yet, the craziest thing is that Attack on Titan pretty much showed that this entire episode was going to happen years ago.

If you don’t believe me, simply watch the Ending Theme for Attack on Titan Season 2.

In the video above, just about every major event is shown. We’ve even given you a side-by-side comparison right down below (ED is Left, Recent Episode is Right):

An enslaved Ymir meets the parasite that Marley refers to as Devil of all Earth.

Ymir’s Titan form attacking Marely or other enemies of Eldia.

Ymir dies, and her daughters Maria, Rose, and Sina – names of each wall in Paradis Island – consume her spin.

The Rumbling Titans wreak havok.

The video also provides some context for events that we know happened in the show based on earlier seasons, including: the tree of life, an animated montage of Titans under the control of the Eldian Empire attacking ancient Marley, and an image of how Eldians eventually depicted Ymir as a god.

It’s honestly all pretty insane that Attack on Titan was so bold as to spoil its biggest episode of its final season years ago, and almost all of us were non-the-wiser. Did you see anything we missed? Be sure to let us know in the comments below.

Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 is currently airing on both Crunchyroll and Funimation, with later rebroadcasts of each episode appearing on Hulu and Adult Swim.
