Austria vs Moldova Match Analysis and Prediction

Austria are in good form as compared to their opponents, and so they are looking to round off their World Cup 2022 qualification campaign on a positive note in Group F as they welcome the struggling Moldova on Monday night.

The hosts are currently in the fourth spot in the section, having picked 13 points from nine matches, while Moldova are at the bottom with only one point from their nine games so far.

With 13 points from nine matches, Austria are fourth in Group F,  seven points behind second-places Scotland with just a game left, and so they will not be present in the next year’s tournament.

Austria have struggled to find any kind of consistency in the group winning four, losing four and drawing one of their nine matches, scoring 15 goals and conceding 16. They have won two out of their last three fixtures in the group including a 4-2 victory over Israel on Friday, but they lost three out of their last five to Israel,Scotland and Denmark.

Manager Franco Foda’s team are aiming to give their supporters some reason to cheer in their final World Cup 2022 qualification fixture, as the national team have been victorious over Moldova in their last five encounters, including the 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture in September.

Moldova, on the other hand, have never qualified for the finals of the World Cup or even European Championship, as it has been very difficult for them to compete during this quaalification campaign.

Having not won any match and drawn only once with eight defeats out their nine matches has seen them collect only one point to occupy the last position in the table. They have conceded 26 goals and scored  only four.

Roberto Bordin’s side come into the game with a 2-0 loss to Scotland, with Che Adams and Nathan Patterson on the scoresheet for the visitors.
