Best Guns to Use in the Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Beta

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer beta has finally arrived after months of anticipation and the grand reveal during Call of Duty NEXT.

Hopes are high for MW3 considering the response at NEXT with players praising the movement system, weapons and nostalgia hit from the remastered Modern Warfare 2 maps. The beta will run across two weekends: one independent to PlayStation and a second welcoming in Xbox and PC players. The first weekend includes Skidrow, Favela and Estate at launch with more maps set to arrive during the beta.

As players become familiar with the new weapons, here is the best assault rifle and SMG to use during the two weekends.

Best Assault Rifle

The best assault rifle to use is easily the MCW. Reminiscent of the ACR from Modern Warfare 2 (2009), the weapon is a straight laser beam and the recommended default weapon before unlocking custom loadouts.

As players will come to find out, the assault rifle has low recoil, a decent rate of fire and time to kill. Posting up in power positions with the MCW will be important to dominating maps. As well, the weapon becomes even better once players unlock attachments. The Slate Reflector sight, modernized from COD: Vanguard, is a great attachment to help with aiming alongside others.

Best SMG

The best SMG is arguably the Rival-9, though some players enjoy the Striker. Personally, the Rival-9 feels more adept to multiple scenarios and has a better rate of fire. Once players unlock attachments to help increase recoil control and movement speed, the gun feels great to use when navigating close quarters on Favela and Skidrow.
