Blooming of Matricaria expands SWORD ART ONLINE Alicization Lycoris

Two years on from the initial release of SWORD ART ONLINE Alicization Lycoris, the Bandai Namco team behind it continue to feed the beast, pushing out the second major expansion for the game. Blooming of Matricaria is that add-on, promising to deliver all new story, maps, beasts and weapons.

Should you have a copy of the base game of SWORD ART ONLINE Alicization Lycoris and loved every minute of the playthrough, then the addition of the latest expansion is surely one that is going to appeal.

Blooming of Matricaria is that expansion, following on from that of Blooming of Forget-me-not a year or so ago. Now though there’s more reason to head back to the Underworld as you look to stand up to the Four Lords.

Kirito has a new friend in tow for these latest adventures – Rogu – as Blooming of Matricaria adds in a whole host of new content. It’s not just the new story which will look to unfold, but you’ll also find that new maps have been introduced along with new dungeons, a variety of new divine beasts to bear witness to, and a host of new weapons.

It’s priced up at £19.99, which is certainly a fair old lump to pay out, particularly for a game that we found troubles with in full review. Perhaps the performance issues and bugs will have been wiped out by now, but there are still pacing issues which bring the base game down a fair bit.

Should you have that base game and do like SWORD ART ONLINE Alicization Lycoris though, you’ll probably want to fill your boots with the Blooming of Matricaria. You’ll find it on the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, whilst it should also be doing the rounds on PlayStation and PC.

If you previously purchased the Deluxe Edition of the game, you’ll find it already included. Crack on.
