‘Bomb Rush Cyberfunk’, ‘Hello Engineer’, Plus Today’s Other Releases and Sales – TouchArcade

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 18th, 2023. It’s the end of another week, and that means we’re starting things off by looking at the remaining releases hitting the eShop today. The big one is probably Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, the long-awaited homage to Jet Set Radio. Some will likely be interested in Hello Engineer as well. We’ve got summaries of all the new games worth summarizing, and finish things up after that with the lists of new and expiring sales for the day. Let’s get to it!

New Releases

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk ($39.99)

Sometimes people love a series a lot and wait for a new game that might never come. Some of those people might grow up to be game developers, and some of that some might be lucky enough to pick their projects. Some of that some of the some will choose to try to follow up on their favorite series themselves. A few of that tiny number loved Jet Set Radio a lot, and they have now made Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, which is a game that wants more than anything to be Jet Set Radio 3. It sure looks and sounds the part, but does it play it? I haven’t had the opportunity to play it yet, so I sure can’t tell you.

Embraced by Autumn ($18.99)

This visual novel is all about how a boy’s life got flipped-turned upside-down. I’d like to take a minute, just sit down again, and I’ll tell you how he became the princess of a town called Myennes. In Paris, France born and raised, on the playground is where he spent most of his days. Chilling out max and relaxing all cool and all doing some fencing outside of the school, when a bunch of guys who were up to no good, started making trouble in his neighborhood. He got in one little fight and his mom said “Bien, you’re moving to an all-girls boarding school in Myennes!” Alright, that’s enough of that. The main character Marcel has to pretend to be a girl to attend a countryside school. Naturally he ends up with four girls who are very interested in him, and you’ll get a different ending depending on which one you form the closest bond with.

Hello Engineer ($14.99)

Well, I guess you work with what you’ve got. If you guessed the next game in the Hello Neighbor series would be a cross between Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts and Mario Kart, then you’ve hit the bingo. I won’t ask how you guessed that, but you did it. Anyway, the scary neighbor who is also probably a murderer has challenged you to escape from his creepy amusement park. Luckily he has left a whole bunch of parts and materials laying around for you to invent cool vehicles with. Sure, why not?

Neko Journey ($9.99)

This is a 2.5D platformer, and if you look at the rating and the publisher you can probably guess that this is less about platforming and more about collecting various costume bits you can dress the main character up in. Count on many of them to be a bit lewd. A few of them might be very lewd. And maybe that is worth a tenner to you, so there you go. Those looking for a decent platformer can probably find two or three of comparable quality that you could buy combined for the same price.

Sable’s Grimoire: Man and Elf ($5.99)

Another visual novel, this one drawn from the Sable’s Grimoire series. Can love bloom between a man and an elf? It may seem that way at first, but there are a lot of complications to consider. Guess who’s coming to dinner? Yes, this story digs into some parental issues, and your choices are going to bring you to one of two different endings. I’m guessing one of them is less desirable than the other.

Cat’s Cosmic Atlas ($19.99)

Less of a game and more of an interactive educational picture book of sorts. You follow along with the curious cat Fellie and learn about the Northern and Southern skies. Might be a cute pick-up for a kid who is interested in astronomy. You might be able to find a real book for a lower price, mind you.

The Bin Bunch

The Nightmare: Serial Killers ($5.99)

Zombie Outbreak: Survival in Ancient Egyptian ($4.99)

Airplane Race Simulator – 2 Player Game ($7.99)

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

The dubious Johnny Turbo’s Arcade line of Data East games is on sale again, and the bundles are cheaper than ever. I’m not a huge fan of the emulation quality and feature set on these, but that Data East eight-game bundle works out to fifty cents per game at the sale price and that’s hard to say no to if you like classic arcade games. Beyond that, Gamedec for three bucks is a deal adventure game fans might want to take. Not much interesting in the weekend outbox, but have a look anyway just to be on the careful side.
