Cade Stover 2024 NFL Draft Profile

The 2024 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Cade Stover 2024 NFL Draft Profile.

Cade Stover Background

Position: Tight End

School: Ohio State

Size: 6-foot-4, 247 pounds

Class: Senior

2023 stats: 41 receptions, 576 receiving yards, 14 yards per reception, 5 touchdown catches

Stover spent a lot of seasons on the bench, but really broke out these past two years. He is now in the 2024 NFL Draft.

As a four-star recruit in the class of 2019, Stover signed with the in-state Buckeyes. He didn’t play much in 2019 or 2020. In 2021 he had five catches for 76 yards. His role took a huge step forward in 2022, when he finished the season with 36 catches for 406 yards and five touchdowns. His play helped the Buckeyes win 11 games. For the 2023 season, he tallied 41 catches for 576 yards and five touchdowns. He led Ohio State to a second-straight 11-win season.

Following the 2023 season, Stover declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. He currently is projected to be a third to fifth-round pick.

Cade Stover Strengths

While he doesn’t have elite size, Stover has decent size for the NFL level. He is 6-foot-4 and 247 pounds, with a filled-out frame. He also has solid arm length at 32 and 3/4 inches. This helps give him a good catch radius and average play strength for the position.

Stover was impressive in his route running. He was able to get in and out of his breaks quickly to create separation against man coverage. Stover also was able to find soft spots vs. zone coverage in order to provide a good target for the quarterback. He ran a decent number of routes at Ohio State.

With the ball in his hands, Stover can pick up extra yardage. He runs hard and isn’t afraid to run people over. Stover has a little bit of elusiveness and speed as well. His ability to read the field and run to maximize yards will help him.

Cade Stover Weaknesses

Stover is just an average run blocker. He needs to keep his pad level low and his hands inside to help control his blocks. At the next level, he will also need to show more of a desire to block and can improve in the area.

While he is a solid athlete, Stover isn’t the quickest off the line of scrimmage. The lack of acceleration won’t allow him to get open right away. He will need to work on releases to help free himself of tight coverage early in plays.

He usually has solid hands, with the ability to haul in passes off target, but he does have some focus drops. Stover needs to look the ball all the way in before turning up field. If he can eliminate those, his hands could be a strength.

Projected Draft Range: Third Round Pick-Fifth Round Pick

Draft Grade: Fourth Round Pick
