Cavani will score ‘lots of goals’ but Man Utd should have signed a centre-back, says Berbatov

A former Old Trafford favourite does not think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer addressed the most pressing issue in his squad during the summer transfer window

Edinson Cavani will score “lots of goals”, but Manchester United have made a mistake by not signing a new centre-back, according to Dimitar Berbatov.

United wrapped up four last-minute deals on deadline day, with former Paris Saint-Germain star Cavani arriving at Old Trafford on a free transfer and Alex Telles joining the club for €17 million (£15m/$20m) from Porto.

Another €10m was spent on Uruguayan wonderkid Facundo Pellistri, while a €41m (£37m/$48m) agreement was also put in place with Atalanta which will see Amad Traore become a Red Devil in January.
