CS:GO: Cache Tips and Tricks

Although Cache was not that popular in the previous versions of the game, it gained a lot of fans in CS:GO.

At the time of writing this article, Cache belongs to the so-called Reserve Map Pool. In other words, you won’t see the map often in competitive matches. However, this doesn’t mean you can’t play with your friends.

Since the map looks more complicated, this guide will walk you through some of the most important things you should be aware of. Once you learn the CSGO Cache callouts and some tips and tricks, you will definitely catch your enemies off guard.

General information

Similar to other maps in CS:GO, Cache went through a remake so that it can become more balanced. People who’ve played the original version know that it was definitely better for the CT side. However, the new changes and the fact that the Ts can take the A-site much easier makes it more balanced.

The rework of Cache took place in 2019, and it was revealed at ESL One New York 2019. Unlike other popular maps in CS:GO, this one is not created by Valve. In fact, the person behind it is called Shawn Snelling and he is responsible for all of the things associated with Cache.

Like any other map in the game, this one also has its background story. The action takes place in Pripyat, Ukraine, which explains why players can see the Chornobyl Power Plant. 

Be careful if you are going to go mid

Cache used to be one of the best maps when it comes down to the classic 2-1-2 setups. However, the new update makes it slightly more difficult for the CTs. One of the reasons for this is the addition of a new place where the Ts can come from and it is located in mid. In other words, the recent CSGO Cache updates make holding this position alone pretty much impossible.

Since your opponents can kill you from multiple angles, you have to be careful if you go there. Most people make the mistake of staying in the open because they think they will kill the Ts faster. Needless to say, this is usually not the case. Even if you score a kill, trading kills on the CT side is never a good idea.

With that being said, there are cases where pushing mid could be a good idea, especially if you don’t have any utilities. Playing aggressively on the CT side could pay off, but if you die, your team will most likely lose the round. So, be careful when deciding your next move.

You need to “wallbang” the B side 

Aside from learning more about the CSGO Cache smokes and how to use them, you also need more information about the wallbangs. The good news is that this is one of the maps that will allow you to take advantage of this option and kill your enemies without them noticing you.

One of the best places you can wallbang on the CT side is in B. Cache’s remake has a pretty cool sport that allows you to spray your enemies through the garage door near the ladder. There is an angle on the left side slightly above the handle. 

The B site is not easy to retake, so make sure you are in control

Some bomb sites on given maps are easy to re-take than others, which means that losing them is not that big of a problem. However, this doesn’t apply to people interested in Cache CSGO competitive play.

Since the B-site is small, once the Ts gain control, it will be almost impossible to take it back. You have to be aggressive and have tons of utilities, such as flashbangs, and even this might not be enough. So, ensure you are in control because otherwise, you will probably lose the round.

Attacking Mid as a T is almost always a good idea

As mentioned earlier, Cache’s remake gives the T side a huge advantage when it comes down to going mid. Since the CT side will most likely put only one player there, taking control of this part of the map is as easy as it gets. Needless to say, you should try to abuse this as much as possible.

Check whether the CTs have only one person defending B

We’ve already pointed out the CSGO Cache Map and its B side are important for the CT. However, since defending mid is easier said than done, many teams decide to put two players there and only one in B. If that’s the case, you should try to take advantage and take this bomb if you are on the T side.

You could do a couple of things, and it usually starts by throwing a smoke. One of the most important Cache CSGO smokes is the one for the main entrance. After that, you can throw a flash for “checkers”, which will allow you to take control of this part of the site. I

Once you complete the steps mentioned above, you should be able to take control of the site fairly easily because the CT player can’t hold multiple angles without exposing himself. 

Of course, the CTs can always respond by throwing their own smoke earlier and saving their flashes for later on. However, most people in PUB games never do this, so if you play your cards right, you should be able to get a free bombsite.

 A-site is much easier to retake than B

Due to its larger size and the fact that you can attack it from multiple angles, the A-site is much easier to retake if you are on the CT side. The newly-added box close to CT spawn makes it much easier for people to hold their positions and return if needed. 

Once you learn more about the Cache CSGO positions and how to use your utilities, you will see that this map is amazing. We can only hope Valve will add to its main pool of competitive maps as soon as possible.
