Dark doubles, Clem wins EU

Week #224 gave us our first double cup winner since February, with Dark taking home the honors in the Korea and Americas competitions. The European cup went to Clem, who won the event for the second straight week.

(Wiki)Dark began his week by running a gauntlet of Code S champions to win the Korean server cup, beating herO (2-0), Solar (2-0), and ByuN (3-1) along the way. Also, in our weekly Reynor-in-Korea update, the visiting Italian was held to a top eight finish (0-2 loss to Solar) in his third attempt at the cup.

Sandwiched between Dark’s cup wins was Clem’s triumph on the European server, with the Liquid Terran losing only a single map on his way to the title. The finals came down to Clem vs MaxPax for the fourth straight week, where (Wiki)Clem defeated his rival by a 3-1 score.

(Wiki)Dark then nabbed his second weekly title in the Americas competition, which was made easier than usual due to top end regulars such as herO, MaxPax, Clem, and GuMiho all skipping this week’s bracket. As such, it wasn’t surprising to see the finals come down to a rematch between Dark and ByuN, with Dark winning by the same 3-1 score from their Korean cup clash.

In non-ESL cup news, the Kung Fu Cup is set to return for another 11 week run as part of the upcoming World Team League Summer season. Cup #1 will be held on April 24th.
