Death Stranding and Death Stranding Director’s Cut Have Reached Over 10 Million Players

Kojima Productions has announced that Death Stranding and Death Stranding Director’s Cut have collectively reached more than ten million players worldwide. Today marks the third anniversary of the title, which first launched in 2019 for PS4 and then in July 2020 for PC.

The Director’s Cut would follow in September 2021 for PS5, followed by the PC version in March 2022. It’s also available on PlayStation Plus and, more recently, Game Pass on PC. The developer confirmed that the number of players included free access via subscription services. It didn’t offer an update on sales figures.

Death Stranding will continue in the future, with actor Norman Reedus confirming that a sequel is in development. Kojima Productions is also rumored to be working on Overdose, which features Margaret Qualley (also part of Death Stranding as Mama). Whether related or not, it’s also recently been teasing a new title with various actor reveals, the latest being Shioli Kutsuna of Deadpool 2 fame. Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.
