Elden Ring: How To Find The Crucible Axe Armor Set

Elden Ring is chock full of amazing-looking armor sets. One, in particular, the Crucible Axe armor set, can be seen fairly early in the game—you encounter a Crucible Knight boss wearing the armor set in the Stormhill Evergaol in Limgrave.

In order to find the armor for yourself, however, you will need to gain access to the Altus Plateau and then the Capital Outskirts, just outside Leyndell, Royal Capital. The armor can be found in Auriza Hero’s Grave, a dungeon located in the eastern Capital Outskirts.

Tough Boss Ahead: Prepare Yourself

To earn the Crucible Axe Armor Set, you will need to navigate Auriza Hero’s Grave and defeat the double boss at the end of the dungeon: Crucible Knight Ordovis and a Lesser Crucible Knight. This is an incredibly tough fight, and a significant dungeon to navigate, so upgrade your weapon(s) and Spirit Ash of choice if you have the resources to do so. Also, consider collecting any nearby Golden Seeds or Sacred Tears to boost the effectiveness of your Flask of Crimson Tears. You will also need a Stonesword Key in order to enter Auriza Hero’s Grave.

Tip: if you haven’t acquired it, consider grabbing Margit’s Shackle from Patches. A hidden use of the item is that it will trigger any traps and make the Chariots destroy each other when they collide. Destroying the Chariots in Azura Hero’s Grave will reward you with the Tree Sentinel Armor and the Ash of War: Holy Ground.

How To Reach Auriza Hero’s Grave

• Begin at the Outerwall Battleground site of grace.
• Ride east, up the slope and into the massive graveyard.
• When you reach a fork in the road, take a right, now heading southeast.
• Be wary of the Golem Archers ahead.
• Follow the path down into the watery ravine, and continue southeast, under the bridge, and into the clearing beyond.
• Ahead and to the right, you will find the entrance to Auriza Hero’s Grave with a bear and a larger Rune bear patrolling the clearing.

Auriza Hero’s Grave has a couple well-hidden passages throughout, so make sure to return later when you’re in a more exploratory mood.

Defeat Crucible Knight Ordovis and Lesser Crucible Knight

After navigating the chariot death maze that is Auriza Hero’s Grave, you will reach the dungeon’s boss fog.

This is a double boss fight, and both enemies are fairly aggressive. While the boss arena might feel sizeable at first, you’ll quickly wish you had more room to move around. This fight is about patience and spatial awareness. It is often better to circle around to have more space to back away rather than get that extra hit because each of their attacks stagger you and take a huge chunk of health away. Also: be prepared to die several times. This boss fight is a real difficulty leap over the vast majority of the Minor Dungeons in Elden Ring.

• Healing Attack Trigger – The Crucible Knights have a trigger to punish you whenever you drink from a flask—they will immediately begin a lunge attack toward you. Try to put some serious room between you and them before attempting to heal.
• Use the columns to your advantage – Try to slow their advance by placing a column between you and your pursuers. They can be helpful, but don’t rely on them too much—the Crucible Knights’ lunge attacks can unpredictably slide them around the pillars, and other times they will destroy the columns outright.
• Kill The Lesser Crucible Knight first – Focus on the boss wielding the Siluria’s Tree Great Spear. He has a smaller health bar, and this fight is made infinitely easier once you only have to deal with one Crucible Knight. The two Crucible Knights will often alternate which one is the most aggressive toward you, so if Ordovis is open to an attack, get a hit or two in—just try to prioritize the Lesser Crucible Knight when you can so you can put him out of the fight fast.

If all else fails, consider Summoning another player to help with the battle. There is no shame in jolly cooperation!

After you conquer this amazingly difficult fight, you will be rewarded with 28,000 runes, Ordovis’s Greatsword, and the Crucible Axe Armor Set. The armor set is fairly heavy, so you might need to increase your Endurance to avoid heavy rolling, but the armor itself boasts a strong spread of defenses, and it offers a boost to Aspect of the Crucible Incantations for each armor piece worn—though the true perk to wearing the Crucible Axe Armor set is just how cool it looks.
