Elves, dwarves, hobbits, and humans collide in full teaser for 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power'

Apologies in advance for the person I will become when The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power comes out, because I am already losing my mind at this teaser.

The upcoming series looks absolutely gorgeous (it helps that it’s the most expensive season of television ever produced). We get glimpses of lush elven forests, ornate dwarven mines, and the peaceful, well-tended lands of the hobbits. We also see the island kingdom of Númenor and the Two Trees of Valinor, both key parts of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth mythology.

The Rings of Power takes place in the Second Age of Middle-earth, whereas The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings take place in the Third Age. This means we’ll be getting to know a new cast of characters, from the Harfoot hobbits to the Númenorians. However, the trailer mainly focuses on characters we’re already familiar with: elves Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and Elrond (Robert Aramayo).

Galadriel is insistent that the forces of darkness are gathering, but Elrond basically tells her to chill. Unfortunately, based on the orcs we see in the trailer and a dwarf’s ominous declarations of the start of a new age, it looks like Galadriel is right. Darkness is still out there. Will this shadow be a passing thing, or will it be here to stay? We’ll have to wait until September to find out and bask in all this epicness.
