ESL Open Week #203: Solar, MaxPax, Dark win

Week #203 of the ESL Open Cups was notable for being the first week in over a month where Clem failed to win a cup, but was otherwise dominated by familiar faces.

The Korean server cup saw Solar come out on top, defeating Creator 3-1 in the finals. A notable upset in the lower rounds was Oliveira’s 2-1 over Dark, giving further evidence that the reigning world champion is rounding back into form.

The European cup featured a Clem vs MaxPax finals for the third straight week, and this time, MaxPax prevailed by a 3-1 score. Reynor made an appearance as his off-race Protoss, but was eliminated by Future in the RO16.

The American cup went to Dark, who defeated GuMiho 3-0 in the finals. It was a near-perfect run from Dark, who lost only a single map in the entire tournament (vs Cure in the semifinals).

In the non-ESL Cups, MaxPax won Kung Fu Cup Winter #9 (3-21 vs herO in the finals) for the unofficial weekly double. herO won KSL #36 (3-0 vs Dark).
