Genshin Impact Summer Fantasia pre-load available now on all platforms

The next-big update for miHoYo’s Genshin Impact is finally here, bringing the summer magic to the land of Teyvat. With the long-awaited Genshin Impact Summer Fantasia update, fans will be treated to a massive selection of new content. But how do you download the new update?

How to pre-load Genshin Impact Summer Fantasia!

Genshin Impact players who open the game as of today will be greeted with a new message. Upon opening the game, a pop-up will flash up asking you if you wish to pre-install the new update for miHoYo’s sprawling gacha RPG.

If you allow the download today, you’ll have every block of data for the Genshin Impact Summer Fantasia update when it finally goes live. At a rather hefty size of 1.37GB, it’s much better to install the update ahead of release than wait until you want to play. After all, the wait is only going to be worse if you actually want to play the new update while it downloads.

If you’ve accidentally said no to the pre-load pop-up before, don’t fret. There are still ways to access the pre-load option. In the lower left on all mobile platforms, a small download icon should appear. Next to an image of a cloud with an arrow in it, there should be text saying: “pre-install resource package”. Tap this and you can start download immediately.

What is in the Genshin Impact 2.8 update?

For starters, the Genshin Impact Summer Fantasia update introduces the Summertime Odyssey event. During this event, the Golden Apple Archipelago will return with an all-new look for the event. This event will task you with inviting “Prinzessin der Verurteilung” to the event, fighting new enemies and unlocking a new character for free.

Furthermore, the Genshin Impact 2.8 update introduces mainstay content that will last after the event. This new content focuses on new character Shikanoin Heizou, a young prodigy detective from the Tenryou Commission.

On top of this, there are a bunch of new dungeons to explore, new weapons to find, and new summer costumes for your favourite characters. It’s a huge update, and one that should certainly make fans of the game happy.
