Germany Women seek to win their ninth European Championship title, but they must first go through a semi-final contest against France Women at Stadium MK on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Les Bleues have already made history by reaching their first European Championship semi-final, but they still have dreams of securing a place in the Women’s Euro 2022 final.
Germany have been on an impressive run of form throughout the tournament, scoring 11 goals in their four matches, while theyare yet to concede.
Martina Voss-Tecklenburg’s side began the tournament with a 4-0 victory over Denmark before seeing off Spain and Finland to ease to the top spot.
After going through a cagey quarter-final tie, Germany to turn their attention to the semi-finals on Wednesday where they have the chance to maintain their unbeaten record against France at major competitions.
The record European Championship winners will also draw confidence from the fact that they are unbeaten in their previous six European Championship semi-finals.
Unlike their opponents, France conceded in each of their group matches, but their quality in attack ensured they progressed to the quarter-finals with minimal struggle.
France brushed aside Italy by a comprehensive 5-1 scoreline before they claimed a narrow 2-1 victory over Belgium to secure top spot in their group after two matches.
They concluded the group stage by a 1-1 draw with Iceland, and another tricky affair awaited in the quarter-finals when France faced defending champions the Netherlands.
Corinne Diacre will now try to orchestrate a win in France’s first semi-final appearance at the European Championships, where they will also aim to extend an 18-game unbeaten streak.
Despite their record against Germany at major tournaments leaves much to be desired, France may draw inspiration from the 1-0 victory they recorded in the most recent meeting between the two nations in June 2021.

Germany’s Lena Oberdorf and Felistas Rauch returned from suspension to start against Austria, and they are set to retain their places in the side, with Tecklenburg expected to name an unchanged lineup.
The centre-back pairing of Marina Hegering and Kathrin Hendrich will be looking to keep Germany’s fifth consecutive clean sheet of the tournament.

France’s Griedge Mbock will partner Wendie Renard in central defence and the pair will have their work cut out to restrict a Germany side who have scored at least two goals in every game at the tournament.
