Get Ready for the Next Battle! Reina Rounds Out Tekken 8’s Roster

The announcement of purple-haired temptress Reina has completed Tekken 8’s release day roster, and you can view the full list of All Confirmed Characters through the link. Officially unveiled during a tournament livestream overnight, the trendy newcomer wields an acrobatic style loosely inspired by contemporary martial arts technique Taido, which sees her employing attacks like eye pokes and scratching to inflict damage on her opponents.

“When producing Reina’s Taido techniques, we collaborated with the renowned expert, Mr. Tetsuji Nakano, who has won the Taido World Championships four times,” director Kohei Ikeda revealed on the PS Blog. “Mr. Nakano is not only knowledgeable in Taido but also in various other martial arts. His advice on brutal techniques helped bring out the distinctive features and personality in Reina’s movements even more.”

Her design, according to the developer, is intended to capture the character’s duality. Therefore, she has a “fashionable and charming appearance” which is counteracted by a “charismatic sense of evil”. You can check out her first gameplay in the trailer embedded above.
