Santa Monica Studio is one of PlayStation’s leading developers and they’re the main force behind the PlayStation-exclusive God of War series. They’ve also published other titles, like Journey and The Order: 1886. Now, what do these games have in common? In terms of consoles, they’re exclusive to the PlayStation family (though, Journey has made it to Steam and iOS).
You’d think being completely exclusive to PlayStation would keep God of War specifically in Sony’s court, and you would be correct. It hasn’t left Sony since the series began in 2005 and isn’t going to anytime soon. However, a rather curious listing on Steam is raising some eyebrows, and yes, it’s real. Let’s break it down, shall we?
God of War on Steam?
God of War 2018 has a Steam listing, added yesterday afternoon, and it’s quite the sight to behold. God of War is on a platform not named PlayStation and looks to have some enhancements tied to this version, too. The Steam pre-order page touts high-fidelity graphics, support with NVIDIA DLSS and Reflex, and support for PS4, PS5, and many other gamepads.
God of War 2018 is one of PlayStation 4’s most regarded titles and has garnered a lot of traction. Its sequel, Ragnarok, is even in the works and is slated for a release next year. And, going forward, it looks as if Steam users will be able to get their hands on one of PlayStation’s biggest releases in the late 2010s. However, a few months’ time will have to pass before they can play it.
God of War (2018) is available now on PlayStation 4 and will release on January 14th, 2022, on PC via Steam. Pre-orders are available now on the Steam page.
