God of War Ragnarok’s Odin Was the Toughest Character to Design, Art Director Says

God of War Ragnarok is bringing the series’ Norse saga to a close, which means that – even more so than usual – Kratos is going to be facing off against a number of formidable foes. The likes of Thor and Freya are going to get plenty of the spotlight, of course, and for obvious reasons, but as the king of the Norse pantheon of gods, Odin the Allfather is, in many ways, going to be the game’s primary villain.

We haven’t heard or seen too much a lot about what we can expect from Odin in God of War Ragnarok, but apparently, bringing him to life was quite the challenge for SIE Santa Monica Studio. As spotted by a user over on RedditGod of War Ragnarok’s art director Raf Grassetti was recently asked on Instagram about who the hardest character to design was in the game, and according to him, Odin takes the cake. His response is pretty cut and dry and we don’t get too much insight into why he went with Odin, but it’s clear that the folks at SIE Santa Monica Studio don’t want to give too much away, especially when it comes to Odin.

Recently, courtesy of the official unboxing video for God of War Ragnarok’s Jotnar Edition, we got our first glimpse at all nine realms in the game. Pre-orders for the game have also now gone live, courtesy of which it seems to have been accidentally confirmed that the game will feature both 30 FPS and 60 FPS options.

God of War Ragnarok is due out on November 9 for PS5 and PS4.
