Gran Turismo Dev to Collaborate with Sony Honda on Real-Life Car

Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital, already at the heart of so many different projects, will collaborate with Sony Honda Mobility on its real-life electric vehicle, AFEELA. The partnership was announced during the Japanese giant’s CES 2024 press conference overnight, although exactly what the relationship will entail remains unclear.

“The purpose of this partnership is to develop vehicles that fuse the virtual and the real, mainly in the area of human senses and emotions by combining Polyphony Digital’s simulation technology with the development of actual vehicles by Sony Honda Mobility,” the press release cryptically reads. During the press conference, it talked about using technology like the Unreal Engine to provide more meaningful driver information.

In the meantime, you’ll be able to test drive the AFEELA Prototype 2024 – which was steered on stage using a DualSense controller during the presentation – in Gran Turismo 7 later this year. “Before the vehicle is released, we would like to give [everyone] an opportunity to drive the car in the game,” the organisation said.
