Halo Infinite multiplayer was surprise released on Nov. 15 in honor of the series’ 20th anniversary.

“On behalf of the entire Halo Infinite team, and in celebration of Halo’s 20th anniversary, I am very happy to announce that your Spartan journey begins… today! Sincerest thanks to the entire Halo community for your support, passion, and feedback. This day belongs to all of you. Whether you’ve been part of the community from the beginning or are joining with us today, welcome,” 343 Industries said in the announcement.

Technically a multiplayer beta, this release marks the start of Season 1: Heroes of Reach. An official trailer was released in the tweet above as well.

Season 1 comes with a load of content including a premium battle pass with over 100 rewards, both casual and ranked playlists, special events and more. As expected, Halo Infinite multiplayer is free-to-play.

There is also a special reward set celebrating 20 years of Halo which players can earn free-in game items by playing from now until Nov. 22.
