Hogwarts Legacy Is Up for Preorder

Hogwarts Legacy is set to release for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC sometime in the holiday 2022 period. A single-player open-world RPG, Hogwarts Legacy takes place at the storied academy in the 1800s, long before the events of the books and movies.

Listings are starting to go up at various retailers, but if you preorder from Best Buy, you’ll get a free $10 gift card with your purchase. Not a bad deal on what will likely be one of the biggest games of the year.

What Is Hogwarts Legacy?

Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world RPG set at the school for wizardry in the 1800s. All of the familiar locations are represented, including the Great Hall, library, clocktower, and each of the houses’ common rooms.

You get to create and play as a fifth-year student at Hogwarts. The main storyline involves investigating a goblin rebellion, but you’ll also have plenty of wizardly activities to do in your free time. You can fly around on a broom to take in the school, the Forbidden Forest, and the village of Hogsmeade from above, as well as areas further out. You can challenge classmates to magic duels and brew potions in class.

There are lots of spells to learn and enemies to fight. You can explore hidden nooks and crannies in the school just like the characters in the books do.
