Hogwarts Legacy Release Date Delayed

The Hogwarts Legacy release date for PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC has been delayed from Holiday 2022 to Feb. 10, 2023, Portkey Games announced Friday.

Additionally, the Nintendo Switch launch date for Hogwarts Legacy will be revealed “soon.”

“The team is excited for you to play,” the official Hogwarts Legacy Twitter announcement reads, “but we need a little more time to deliver the best possible game experience.”

Hogwarts Legacy was officially revealed in September 2020, during Sony’s PlayStation 5 showcase. The game’s existence had been leaked back in 2018.

It has previously been delayed from a 2021 release to 2022.

In January, it was reported that Hogwarts Legacy could be facing another delay, this time to 2023, though Portkey Games went on to announce in March that the game would be releasing Holiday 2022.

Now, it seems the game will be dropping in 2023 after all, though it has yet to be made available for pre-orders.

Hogwarts Legacy, Portkey Games and Avalanche Software’s upcoming open-world, single-player action RPG, invites players to create their own witch or wizard and uncover the hidden truths in an original story set in the wizarding world of Harry Potter.

Along the way, players will be able to “experience life as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry like never before.” Players will indeed be able to choose their Hogwarts house at the start of the game.

Since it is set in the 1800s, the game’s events take place before the time period of J.K. Rowling’s original stories.
