House of the Dragon season 2 has the Targaryens preparing for an all-out civil war

The Targaryen civil war is on the horizon in the first trailer for House of the Dragon season 2. The trailer was released on Saturday at the CCXP convention in Brazil, during a panel for the show’s new season. House of the Dragon season 2 will be released next summer.

The trailer doesn’t include too much actual story, but that’s OK, we know exactly where this story is going: a massive war between dragons Westeros’ most powerful silver-haired family. The trailer includes a few cuts to most of the show’s most important characters, including Rhaenyra, Rhaenys, Otto, Daemon, Aemon, Larys, and more — as well as enough dragons to take out most of the kingdom.

House of the Dragon’s second season will bring back most of the first season’s primary cast, with the exceptions of a few actors like Milly Alcock, Emily Carey, and Paddy Considine, who all aged out of the series, one way or another. The cast will also add a variety of members, including Amanda Collins (Raised By Wolves) as Jeyne Arryn, Gayle Rankin (Perry Mason) as Alys Rivers, Kieran Bew (Warrior) as Hugh Hammer, Simon Russell Beale (The Death of Stalin) as Simon Strong, and more. Co-showrunner Ryan Condal will be back for the second season, but his other co-showrunner, Miguel Sapochnik, will not return.
