How the Collectopaedia works in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Future Redeemed

The original Xenoblade Chronicles set the ball rolling for the now beloved series, and it boasted numerous great features. Chief among them, in my personal opinion, was the Collectopaedia. The Collectopaedia was a handy little feature that rewards you for adventuring and gathering different kinds of materials. With the release of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Future Redeemed, the Collectopaedia has come back in a very similar fashion to how it shows up in other Xenoblade games, and it’s a real blast to complete. If you’re unsure on how it all works though, here’s our guide on how the Collectopaedia works in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Future Redeemed.

How the Collectopaedia works in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Future Redeemed

The Collectopaedia has a couple of functions in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Future Redeemed, and it differs from the Collectopaedia Cards that were in the base game of Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

The Collectopaedia, as mentioned, works similarly to how it’s worked in the past, with you needing to collect items to fill up a sheet. The items you need to collect to finish a sheet are different depending on what area you’re currently in, with each area having different item spawns. You require a certain amount of these items to be able to log them, and when you log them it fills a square in the sheet. Each sheet is also different in size depending on how many different types of items are in each area.

Filling up the Collectopaedia

Filling up the Collectopaedia in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Future Redeemed can earn you Affinity Points. Every entry that you fill in the Collectopaedia will earn you a set amount of Affinity Points, which can also be an easy way to gain Affinity Points if you’re low on them. If you have a Collectopaedia entry ready to exchange, you will see an acorn symbol on the right-hand of the screen, which means you need to go to the Collectopaedia menu and turn it in.

The trick to filling in your Collectopaedia in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Future Redeemed is simply to adventure and do some leg work in-game. Item drops are all across the world of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and finding new items shouldn’t take too long. Furthermore, there are plenty of other benefits to running around, such as filling up your exploration Affinity Goal, and even giving you some bonus EXP to save you from needing to grind. There are certain items that will only spawn in certain locations too, like screws-type items spawning in areas it would make sense for them to spawn, such as next to a broken elevator that needs them to be repaired.
