How to beat Andariel in Diablo 4

There are multiple unique boss battles throughout Diablo 4, ranging from terribly easy to satisfyingly difficult. Apart from the Dungeon or event bosses, some of the most interesting boss enemies you’ll face across Sanctuary are from the main story. One of these enemies is Andariel, who is the big boss at the end of Act IV. If you’re wondering how to beat Andariel in Diablo 4, continue reading.

Diablo 4: Andariel boss fight guide

By this point in the story, your level may already be high enough to handle Andariel with ease. But some of you may find this boss battle difficult, which we can help you out with. At the end of Act IV, you’ll be facing off against Andariel, Maiden of Anguish. Luckily, Andariel doesn’t summon other goons to fight alongside her, so it’ll just be you and her. The only problem you may have is sticking around long enough to get through those lengthy phases.

Phase one

As a Lightning Sorcerer, one of my most useful skills is my ability to Teleport. This came in handy in all the phases, but it’s better to practice it with the first one. Andariel often summons Rune Chains that will try to tie you down in a certain area. Usually, she will summon several, meaning you’ll have to get creative when trying to escape them. Sure, you can just stick them out, but I really don’t enjoy being tied down in a fight.

This is when an ability that lets you escape quickly like Teleport works best. Anytime a Rune Chain stuck to me, I would save my Teleport for this moment and use it to escape. From the four other classes in Diablo 4, you may have your own ability similar to Teleport. Even Dodge can work, if you time it right before the Chains grab you.

Another thing she does is unleash powerful attacks in three red stripes. She’ll warn you where they’ll run before it hits you, giving you plenty of time to Dodge out of the way. Not only that, but Andariel will disappear for a few moments, leaving you open to attacks from red flaming projectiles. These are hard to ignore, so I’d recommend you throw up a Barrier while this is happening.

Phase two

Those annoying Rune Chains still persist, but this time she has some new attacks. Andariel will start using a chain weapon to whip at you. This one is faster and harder to Dodge, but if you have the right boots, your Dodge ability should be able to handle this. I always make sure to wear boots that have an extra Evade Charge, since one isn’t enough for me.

Anytime she hits with her chain, she’ll leave a harsh red line, but it isn’t as predictable as her last red stripe attacks. If you read Andariel’s movements closely enough, you’ll be able to tell when she’s about to strike. She’ll also swipe horizontally in front of her, but you can tell when she’s about to do it as she winds up her swipe beforehand.

Another thing Andariel likes to do is push you into the sandstorm. There’s a harsh sandstorm surrounding you during the entire fight, and you don’t want to get caught up in it. It will eat away at your health, so if you’re pushed into it, find a way out quick. Also, with each phase that passes, the storm will push further in, making the fighting arena tighter.

Phases three and four

The final two phases aren’t so different from phase two, except for the fact that Andariel will strengthen her abilities, and become faster. As the arena is a lot smaller now, you don’t have a ton of space to work with. She’s also relentless with her attacks, whether they’re melee hits or chain swipes. Just keep up the same dexterous movements you’ve had to do for the entire fight, and keep and eye on which move she’ll perform next.

I fought Andariel at level 48, and didn’t find it too difficult, but despite that, it was still exciting. Now you should know how to better fight Andariel in Diablo 4, and I hope these tips were helpful enough in your pursuit of beating her.
