Head to Forgotten Viaduct

To make use of this method, you’ll need to make your way to the game’s third stage, Forgotten Viaduct. If you haven’t unlocked it yet, you can do so by defeating the Wraith Warlord boss in stage two, Ember Grounds. This is a screen-spanning blockade of invincible ghost enemies, marching slowly but inexorably towards the center of the stage from both sides. While the enemies that make up the Ghost Wall can’t be killed, they do still take damage, which is the key to our method.

Be careful when using this method, however: staying close to the Ghost Wall gives you less space to work with than usual, and makes it more difficult to weave through the ranks of the other enemies in the stage. This isn’t a problem for tanky characters like the Shieldmaiden, but the likes of the Archer and Sorceress may need to develop their movement speed to avoid dying before the 3,000,000 mark is reached.
