How to easily complete the 3,000,000 damage Challenges in Halls of Torment

While three is the magic number in many cultures across the world, 3,000,000 is the magic number in Halls of Torment. There are in-game challenges that ask you to deal that much damage in a single run with every Ability, and some regular weapons as well, making it a goal you’ll be shooting for throughout your time with the game. Some of these challenges are more difficult than others, but they can all be easily accomplished with the help of one simple trick. Today, we’ll be showing you how to easily complete the 3,000,000 damage challenges in Halls of Torment.

Head to Forgotten Viaduct

To make use of this method, you’ll need to make your way to the game’s third stage, Forgotten Viaduct. If you haven’t unlocked it yet, you can do so by defeating the Wraith Warlord boss in stage two, Ember Grounds. This boss spawns around the 14-minute mark, and attacks by sending out clones of himself in a line or arc. He’s a fast-moving foe, but not hugely difficult once you get his pattern down.

Grab your weapon of choice

Once you’ve unlocked the Forgotten Viaduct, jump in with your character of choice. This method can work with any of them, but things will go quicker if you use a character with high attack speed, such as the Archer or Exterminator. In the stage, make your way to one of the two Golden Scrolls that spawn in by default: One will spawn to the north of your starting position, and one to the south. Choose the Ability you want to complete the 3,000,000 damage challenge for from among the selections offered. If you don’t get offered it on the first Scroll, don’t worry: there are plenty of Elites later on to try your luck again.

Seek out the Ghost Wall

Once you’re all set with your Ability, proceed further north or south (depending on which Scroll you went for initially) from your position until you encounter the Ghost Wall. This is a screen-spanning blockade of invincible ghost enemies, marching slowly but inexorably towards the center of the stage from both sides. While the enemies that make up the Ghost Wall can’t be killed, they do still take damage, which is the key to our method.

Complete the 3,000,000 damage challenges

As long as you’re hanging out next to the Ghost Wall, your Abilities will deal continuous damage to it. The ghosts are quite densely-packed, meaning you can often hit a few at once, resulting in huge damage numbers in record time. Stick around for a few minutes, with a few upgrades on your Ability of choice, and you’ll easily reach and surpass the 3,000,000 damage required. Be careful when using this method, however: staying close to the Ghost Wall gives you less space to work with than usual, and makes it more difficult to weave through the ranks of the other enemies in the stage. This isn’t a problem for tanky characters like the Shieldmaiden, but the likes of the Archer and Sorceress may need to develop their movement speed to avoid dying before the 3,000,000 mark is reached.

So there you have it: a method to easily complete the 3,000,000 damage challenges in Halls of Torment. You can often reach 3,000,000 with two different Abilities per run using this strategy, and a base weapon too in some cases. You can rinse and repeat this method to quickly finish the challenges for your full arsenal, and unlock all the possible upgrades for your Abilities.
