How to master the Web Wings in Spiderman 2

How to master the Web Wings in Spiderman 2

One of the more exciting new features of Spider-Man’s arsenal is the wingsuit. You’ll want to learn how to master the Web Wings in Spiderman 2 in order to properly fly around New York City.

At my first few attempts, the controls were a little rocky, and I wasn’t sure how to best make use of the wings. After some practice and research, I’ll teach you the ways of the Web Wings in Spiderman 2.

Spider-Man 2: How to use the Web Wings

First off you need to know the proper controls before you can learn how to master the Web Wings in Spiderman 2. While in the air, press Triangle to throw out the wings. Spider-Man will start to glide, and using the left joystick, you can control the direction.

As a tip, if you don’t like inverted vertical controls on the wingsuit, you can switch this in the settings. But upon first glide, pushing up will point you down, and vice versa. While those are the basics, there are some tips you should know on actually mastering the Web Wings.

Wind tunnels and updrafts

If you’re looking to gain some speed using the Web Wings, take advantage of wind tunnels and updrafts. Scattered across the city, you’ll find tunnels of wind with circles indicating where to follow. Fly through these tunnels, and you’ll pick up a ton of speed.

Updrafts are vertical gusts of wind that’ll propel you higher into the air. If you’re starting to falter, head to a nearby updraft to gain some height.

Gaining speed easily

The easiest way to gain speed with the Web Wings, when there are no wind tunnels around, is simply diving. If you find yourself slowing down, I recommend taking a short dive, which will garner you some speed, then flying back up.

You won’t crash, but you’ll take a quick enough dive to get some momentum back. Just be careful not to dive too far down, especially if you have fall damage off.

Switch between flying and swinging

You don’t just want to fly all the time. Although swinging 100% of the time is fine, the Web Wings will eventually have you start falling towards the ground. I recommend switching between flying and swinging once in awhile.

When you notice yourself losing momentum and getting closer to the ground, switch back to web swinging. With enough speed, you can then bring back the Web Wings.

Steady joystick movements

Properly controlling the Web Wings with your left joystick can be trickier than you realize. The good thing about the left analog stick is that you don’t have to push it fully into one direction to have Spider-Man turn that way.

Pushing the joystick too far can lead to you flying way too fast in one direction and crashing into a building. There’s no need for such drastic movements, just inching the joystick slightly into certain directions gives you enough movement. Keep it steady, because the joystick is sensitive when using the Web Wings.

Find the right moments

While Web Wings can be useful practically anywhere, I find them most helpful during specific situations. They can get you someplace a lot faster than swinging, so think about that when pulling them out. For example, car chases are usually the best time to use your wings. They can easily get you close enough to the car.

Also, it’s best to use the Web Wings when flying over water. If you want to cross a large body of water, make sure you’ve gained the speed, and pull out the wings. There’s nowhere to swing over water, so the wings are your best friends there.
