How to use the Martingale strategy in Blackjack » New Zealand casinos

The Martingale strategy can be used in both Blackjack and Roulette. However, the vast majority use the strategy in Roulette, which means that it is also known as the roulette strategy. In this article we will go through how to use the Martingale in the game of Blackjack to increase your chances of winning.

1. Start with the lowest possible bet.

Blackjack first bet

In the example above, we can choose NZD 1 as the first bet.

2. Hit the deal button

Blackjack hit the deal button

The dealer now deals two cards to you and two to himself, but the dealer may only turn over one of the cards at this point as long as he/she has not received BlackJack.

3. Collect your winnings

Collect your winnings

If you win, your winnings are paid out and the game starts over. Every time you win you have to start over with your bet of NZD 1.

4. Get as close to 21 as you can

Get close to 21

During the course of the game, you must use your cards to get as close to 21 as possible without going over. You can ask for new cards until you feel you are as close as possible. In the example above we have been dealt three cards and only reached 10 so we draw one more!

5. Hit the Stand button

After drawing one more card we end up at 20 which is pretty good. It is important that you now do not choose HIT but stay to show the dealer that you are satisfied with your cards.

6. Bust!

Blackjack bust

When you lose, you lose your bet and the game restarts. Now is the time to double your bet! So instead of starting by betting NZD1, you should now bet NZD2.

7. Double your bets

Double your bets

Play as normal with the goal of getting Blackjack or getting as close to 21 as possible without going over.

8. Win back losses

Win back losses

If you win, you win twice the amount you bet. That is NZD 4. Since you lost NZD1 in the first round and now bet NZD3, this means that you win NZD1 in total.

9. If you lose again

If you lose again

If you lose several rounds in a row, each new round must be bet twice as much as the last time. So the next bet after losing NZD2 is to bet NZD4.

Keep doubling until you win. If the dealer wins this round as well, you move on to the next and start by betting NZD8.

10. Play until you win

Player wins 16

Every time you win, you will win back the stakes you lost plus NZD1.

Let’s break it down

  1. We bet NZD1 and lose NZD1
  2. Now we bet NZD2 and lose NZD2.
  3. Now we bet NZD4 and lsoe NZD4.
  4. We bet NZD8 and win NZD8.

In total we have lost, 1+2+4 which is 7. Our last bet we bet 8, won 16 in total, i.e. 8 extra. In total, we have thus won NZD1.

Summary

The Martingale strategy is widely used by casino players around the world to win back losses. However, there is no guarantee that you will win in the long run as the house always has a bigger advantage and because you have to have a gigantic wallet to be able to double many losses in a row. Therefore, play responsibly and use the strategy to increase the chances of winning, but do not blindly rely on the fact that you can cheat the casino with the Martingale strategy.
