Kingdom: The Blood Is Here And Dark Souls Lovers Might Be Interested – Droid Gamers

Zombies? Kingdom? Soulslike? If any of these call to you like the undead toward brains, then we’ve got wonderful news for you. Kingdom: The Blood just arrived on Android, and it’s a grisly romp through an Unreal-powered world with plenty of guts and glory.

Not Your Average Zombie Apocalypse

For the uninitiated, let me introduce you to the world of Kingdom. Picture a zombie apocalypse. What do you think of? Hazmat suits, shotguns, disused malls. Think again! Kingdom is very much a zombie apocalypse, but it takes place in 16th Century Joseon, the Kingdom (heh) that would one day become Korea.

Strange things are roaming the countryside, and the King has fallen “ill”, the kind of “ill” that makes him occasionally eat palace staff. Everything is descending into chaos. It’s up to estranged prince Lee Chang and his allies to grapple with political machinations and period-piece zombies.

If you’re not familiar with the series though, don’t worry! You don’t need to be to experience all the game has to offer. In fact, an understanding of the combat mechanics of Dark Souls or Elden Ring might serve you even better.

Combat with Soulslike Ambitions

This is a game full of dodge rolling, circling behind enemies, and trying to learn the bosses’ moveset.

You pick from one of two classes, customize them to your liking, or engage in the time-honored Soulslike tradition of creating the ugliest warrior in the Kingdom, and then head out on a zombie-slaying tour of Joseon.

That or try your skill against other extremely ugly warriors in the PVP arena.

As with many Unreal-powered titles, the game looks amazing. It’s also one to take a pretty heavy toll on your phone. Sadly low-spec devices probably need not apply.

It’s a free-to-play game, and there are all the trappings that might be a turn-off for some gamers. Different currencies, dailies, and the like. There’s no escaping it.

If that doesn’t put you off, and you’re eager for some hacky-slashy undead mayhem with a historical flair, then Kingdom: The Blood might be worth a look.

You can check Kingdom: The Blood out now on Google Play.
