Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope character guide: Rabbid Luigi

Nintendo Everything has created a series of character guides for Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, looking at the best skills to acquire, party members to use with them, and Sparks to give them to maximize their potential. This is a guide for Rabbid Luigi.

Rabbid Luigi is another returning character from Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, and one you will have access to at the beginning of the game. He is a short range fighter and, while he lacks the raw power of Rabbid Mario, his technique focuses on weakening enemies rather than inflicting damage, which can make him extremely useful in longer battles and boss battles especially, and on higher difficulty settings where enemies will inflict more damage.

What skills are best for Rabbid Luigi?

When developing Rabbid Luigi, your priority should be to fully upgrade Exhaust Cooldown, Exhaust Range, and Weaken Effect+ in the Technique branch of his Skill Tree, so that he can inflict Weaken as often as possible and it will have the most effect. The final skill in that tree, Vulnerable, is more useful later in the game, or against bosses, which you may not be able to take down more quickly.

As Rabbid Luigi is a short-range fighter, after this you may want to invest in Movement Range, Exhaust Dash, and Extra Dash, improving Rabbid Luigi’s ability to inflict Weaken and giving him more options to do so: because dashing doesn’t cost an action point, this could free him to use his action points on Sparks. Whilst he can hit multiple enemies with his Discruptor, the damage he can do never goes as high as other party members, and his slightly lower HP means he lacks the survivability that he needs to stay close to enemies constantly. Having him more able to get around the battlefield will contribute more to his survivability in the long run.

Who are the best party members to use with Rabbid Luigi?

Rabbid Luigi is a support character and works well with characters whose focus is more on inflicting damage, such as Rabbid Mario, Edge, and Luigi. Rabbid Luigi can also work well with Peach, whose Team Barrier will protect him from damage whilst he moves in to apply Weaken to enemies, allowing your third party member – someone more capable of inflicting damage, such as Rabbid Mario, or even Mario, who can target two enemies when attacking – to finish them off.

Which Sparks are best for Rabbid Luigi?

Ethering and Glitter are both excellent Sparks for Rabbid Luigi, with the former allowing him to avoid damage after inflicting Weaken on enemies, and the latter letting him draw more enemies towards him to apply it. If you choose to unlock Exhaust Dash, giving him a Spark that can apply a Super Effect to his Dash – preferably one that the enemies on the map are weak against – can provide an additional source of damage as well on top of the Weaken status ailment. If you are not using a short-range character, it may also be a good idea to give Rabbid Luigi Regenesis if you find that he needs to be in closer proximity to enemies in order to apply Weaken.
