Marvel’s Avengers bug can only be fixed by deleting your progress [update]

Marvel’s Avengers players on PS5 are having a tough time. Since launching the eagerly awaited update 2.3 on March 29, 2022, Crystal Dynamics have been receiving reports of game-breaking bugs on the PlayStation 5 version.

Update: Crystal Dynamics has released a new patch, addressing the PS5 crashing issues.

The Tomb Raider developers are currently investigating issues related to Marvel’s Avengers crashing whenever users attempt to launch into a mission. While there is a way to fix this problem, PS5 gamers may want to wait for the next patch instead.

“Here’s a workaround that is resolving the issue for some players,” Crystal announced. “Just note that it will reset your campaign progress.”

“Go to Operations and Reset your Reassemble Campaign Progress. As soon as you become young Kamala on A-Day, force close the game from the PS home screen, then you should be able to start Avengers Initiative.”

Naturally, those who own the game on PS5 aren’t too pleased. Even with a remedy patch in the pipeline, those playing on Sony’s shiny new console have missed out on the Marvel’s Avengers double XP event. Whether or not this will be extended as a result of this technical blunder remains unclear. In the meantime, Crystal have added a new exorbitantly priced skin to the in-game marketplace.

Marvel’s Avengers characters we want to see in-game

We’re still waiting to see which superhero will be next to join Marvel’s Avengers. Rumours suggest that Crystal Dynamics will be looking beyond the conventional cast of superheroes for its next featured hero. A now-deleted tweet from voice actress, Krizia Bajos, seemingly confirms that She-Hulk will join the game’s roster. Other strong contenders include Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch, tying in nicely with the next big MCU arc when Multiverse of Madness hits cinema screens later this year.

Marvel’s Avengers is now available on PS4, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. We’re expecting news of more content in the coming months though it’s clear the developers are still working to improve the base game.
