Marvel’s Avengers Spider-Man DLC Comes Without Storyline Campaign

Marvel’s Avengers was Crystal Dynamics’ attempt as a games as a service release. This game sounded like an easy win on paper due to the fact how popular Marvel has become with the cinematic universe. Unfortunately, the game has had a rocky start. Despite that the developers are continuing to support the game. It’s brought out several iconic characters for players to take the role as. Since the launch, developers have continued to turn out more characters for players to take the role as.

Characters like Kate Bishop and Black Panther have been added. Included is not only the unique character for players to take the role as but several unique storyline missions. As a result, most assumed that the anticipated Spider-Man DLC release would also come packed with a few unique story missions for players to go through. Unfortunately, for those that wanted some Peter Parker story missions, you’re out of luck.

The game DLC is just coming with the Spider-Man character. Crystal Dynamics has dropped the idea of adding storyline content missions in favor of audio logs and artwork. Essentially, players will get to complete a series of challenges which would unlock a small story attached to the Spider-Man character. Again, for some this might be a lackluster update to the game for the iconic Marvel hero.

Instead of spending time on the DLC for Spider-Man, it looks like Crystal Dynamics is focusing more of their time with the next upcoming raid. Speaking with IGN, gameplay director Philippe Therien stated that the developers chose to spend their energy on the Klaw raid that will be coming out at the same time. Only time will tell if this was the right move for Crystal Dynamics to make.
