MaxPax doubles, herO wins KR

The final Open Cup series before IEM Katowice saw MaxPax win a double in the European and Americas competitions, while herO took the weekly crown in Korea.

Preparations for Katowice affected the Korean server the most, as only 14 players signed up to play. Still, several Katowice participants were keen on getting in one last cup, with Dark, herO, GuMiho, SHIN, ByuN, and Cyan all throwing their hats in the ring. It all came down to (Wiki)herO vs GuMiho in the end, with DPG Protoss taking a 3-1 victory in the finals.

Clem was notably absent from the European server cup, opening the way for (Wiki)MaxPax to win with a perfect 12-0 run. The same scenario nearly played out in the American server cup, but Wayne was able to take one map off MaxPax in the finals to prevent the first ‘perfect double’ in ESL Open history.

In non-ESL cup competition, (Wiki)Dark won KSL #34 with a 3-1 win over NightMare in the finals.
