Microsoft Has Finalized the Acquisition of Activision Blizzard King – TouchArcade

Back in January last year, Microsoft announced its intent to acquire Activision Blizzard King. Since then, there has been a long battle with regulators, and the deal has finally been completed with today’s announcement from Xbox head Phil Spencer. With this acquisition, the likes of Spyro, Crash, Candy Crush, Call of Duty, and more are now under Xbox. The announcement goes on to say that players will be welcome regardless of where they play these games “even if Xbox isn’t where you play your favorite franchise.” Work will begin on bringing the games from Activision Blizzard and King to Game Pass and other platforms. You can watch a new video Xbox put together for this announcement below:

With the announcement, I’m curious to see what we see first from this acquisition in terms of mobile output. We are already getting Call of Duty Warzone Mobile and we are also seeing Diablo 4 hit Steam next week. Phil Spencer goes on to say that more details will be revealed in the coming months. So far, Bethesda under Microsoft is still doing its own publishing, PR, and marketing. I’m interested to see if the same holds true for King’s properties and whatever we see from Activision and Blizzard on mobile. What do you think of this acquisition and how it will affect the publisher’s output on mobile?
