Mixed Reviews Roll In From Wizardry Variants Daphne CBT

Wizardry Variants Daphne is an upcoming dungeon-crawling RPG on Android, iOS and PC. Published by Drecom and developed by Studio 2Pro, it’s free to play and the latest entry in the Wizardry franchise. The title recently released its beta test results which are quite intriguing. Keep reading to know more!

What Does The Beta Test Say?

The official release date of the title hasn’t been confirmed yet. The closed beta test for Wizardry Variants Daphne ran from September 18 to September 28, 2023. However, it was run only in Japan across iOS and Android and featured the main story of the first chapter.

The test results indicate that players found the fortitude system and progression a bit meh. Almost 80% of the testers rated the game system as good or mostly good. However, the difficulty level has some mixed reviews. Many players found the mini-games with action elements difficult, and even annoying!

About 60% of the testers rated the game controls as good or mostly good. Although the gameplay included cool features like auto-mapping and auto-movement, testers apparently faced major issues while stepping on traps when moving around. Touch controls and flicking seem to be having some issues as well.

So, needless to say, the title needs some polishing before it can actually hit the market. The dev team is already on the challenge and working on making the title easier and more fun to play. What’s Wizardry Variants Daphne?

Variants Daphne is the first-ever Wizardry game for smartphones. Plus, it’s the first global English version of any Wizardry title. Prior to Variants Daphne, the franchisee had hit titles like Tokyo Labyrinth: Wizardry 0, Wizardry: Senran no Matō and Wizrogue: Labyrinth of Wizardry which were released only in Japan.

The gameplay is similar to most other Wizardry games where you get to play the first-person narrative with the labyrinth map in a grid. Set in a dungeon called Abyss, you will get four races and five classes of characters to play with. Until the game hits Android, take a look at our other news.
