Modern Warfare 2 Sniper Rifle Tier List

Our Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II sniper rifle tier list is here to break down which of the guns are the best to use as players begin to dive into the new title’s multiplayer for the first time.

It’s week one with Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer officially here and needless to say, players are already trying to figure out what the best guns to use are. So far, there are 51 different weapons to use, including eight assault rifles, four battle rifles, eight SMGs, four shotguns, six LMGs, six marksman rifles, four sniper rifles, five pistols, four launchers, and two melee weapons. Here is a breakdown of the best sniper rifles to use in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 early on at launch.

S Tier

Alone in the S Tier, for now, is the sniper that appears to have it all in the SP-X 80: mobility, damage range, ADS, fire rate, etc. Ultimately, as you will see in this list, however, it is a really good time to be a marksman in COD as just about all of the MW2 snipers hit extremely hard.

A Tier

Not too far behind, if at all, are the SA-B 50, SP-R 208, and LA-B 330. All three of these snipers also have the ability to absolutely take over kill feeds in matches. However, they are a bit more niche compared to the SP-X 80. The SA-B 50 and SP-R 208 are perfect for very aggressive quickscopers while the LA-B 330 is a superb option for those who take their time and snipe from more traditional ranges.

B Tier

Lastly, in the B Tier are the MCPR-300 and Signal 50. Again, these snipers aren’t exactly weak or anything, but they haven’t gotten as much love as any of the options mentioned above. It’s likely due to these two being a bit bulkier with their animations, but stopping power is not a concern with either of them making them fairly viable as well.
