MultiVersus Season One Delayed

While still in open beta, MultiVersus officially announced on Aug. 3, via Twitter that season one and Morty from Rick and Morty will be delayed until further notice. The delay announcement comes a week before the original date for season one and Morty was going to release on Aug. 9. Here is the latest on MultiVersus Season One being delayed.

The Tweets start by thanking everyone for playing MultiVersus and enjoying the game. Before leading to a second Tweet with the delay announcement. The reason for the delay isn’t exactly clear but they claim they understand the disappointment.

The developers may wish to fix bugs or balancing issues before the official release of season 1. Alternatively, perhaps Morty isn’t exactly ready to release so soon.

Regardless of the issue, MultiVersus states they’ll reveal the actual release date of season one and Morty as soon as possible. The delay, while indefinite might not be long-lasting as they claim they’ll release season one very soon.

Rick from Rick and Morty is still releasing after season one and Morty. There is no word on if this will delay the release of Rick to an even later date.

Rick and Morty will release during Season 1.

The game, of course, is still playable with every character that is available to play. The delay also led the developers to extend the pre-season battle pass until Aug.15. While there is still an official end to the battle pass, they did not state if season one will release after. The end date will still be visible as Aug. 8 in-game.

All progress made in the open beta will cross over to the official release of Season one.

The delay may not satisfy players who have the chance to claim every reward from the battle pass. It may be better for those who wish to do the same but may not have the time to do so.

For the time being, the game still has 17 playable characters, the majority need to be unlocked with in-game coins.

Co-Founder of Player First Games and Director of MultiVersus Tony Huynh expresses disappointment in the delay “I’m very unhappy that we disappointed players.” Huynh said on his official Twitter page.

The game itself is still doing incredibly well in the fighting game genre. The game still maintains over 100,000 players on Steam alone, not counting the player base on the other platforms. Thanks to crossplay, there are likely over 100,000 more players on Playstation and Xbox consoles.
