NBA 2K23 WNBA Edition Cover Athletes revealed

Following announcements about Michael Jordan gracing his own edition and the Championship Edition of NBA 2K23, we’ve now learned about different cover stars.

NBA 2K22 was the first game in series history to feature a woman on the cover as Candace Parker broke that barrier in the WNBA 25th Anniversary Edition.

Things have stepped up this year with two legendary figures chosen as Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi will both be featured on the NBA 2K23 WNBA Edition cover.

Bird and Taurasi are likely to be joined as NBA 2K23 Cover Athletes by Devin Booker who is still reported to be the Standard Edition pick this year, though that hasn’t been made official just yet.

The trailer below was also revealed taking a closer look at the long history and legacy of the two NBA 2K23 WNBA Edition cover athletes.

In addition, NBA 2K announced via press release that they’ve partnered with Bird and Taurasi to donate $100,000 to Every Kid Sports.

The organization aims to provide more access to youth basketball programs across the country, and the donation will cover registration fees for over 550 girls from income-restricted families.

“By partnering with NBA 2K and Every Kid Sports, Diana and I have the opportunity to open doors to hundreds of young girls in this country who want to express themselves on the court,” Sue Bird explained. “I’m honored to be on the cover, and even more honored to use my legacy to provide these opportunities for the next generation.”

NBA 2K23 WNBA Edition Platforms, Price & Pre Order Rewards

Final details about the NBA 2K23 WNBA Edition are still approximately 24 hours away, as pre orders for the title have not yet gone live.

NBA 2K confirmed in recent days that players will be able to place their NBA 2K23 pre order as soon as July 7, 2022, potentially as early as 10am ET.

We expect that the final cover athlete reveal and confirmation of pricing, platforms, and pre order rewards will all arrive at that time.

However, we did get confirmation that the WNBA Edition will once again be exclusive to GameStop in the U.S. and Canada and unfortunately will not be available through any other outlets.

On the rewards front, we did learn today that the NBA 2K23 WNBA Edition will include Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi’s WNBA jerseys as in-game bonus content, but haven’t gotten more details past that.
