I bought my wife some houseplants for her birthday. She has since become a bit of a botanist, telling me all about them. That said, I don’t think any amount of real-world knowledge can prepare her for some of the plants on offer in this next title. Strange Horticulture on Xbox brings the occult into the green-fingered world today.

A strange green world awaits

After inheriting the local plant store from a deceased relative, you quickly notice that things aren’t what they seem here. The plants bear some sort of resemblance to fauna we are used to, but their uses can vary wildly. Indeed, when a customer comes in asking for a plant to help deal with demons in their sleep, you know things are a little different in Strange Horticulture.

Things may sound a bit like a farming sim with growing plants and selling them like in a Harvest Moon. But Strange Horticulture is anything but. This is a puzzle game where you need to pair the right plant to the descriptions given sounds simple in theory.

Sometimes, that plant you need may not be on your shelves, which means you will need to venture out and locate it. Using your map, handwritten letters and strange, cryptic clues, bolster your offerings by locating and uncovering these locations and whatever flowers within.

And pair the wrong plant up too many times in one day and prepare to fight for your sanity in a unique way…
