NFL Quarterbacks Betting Odds: Rivalries for Week 9

In Week 8, the Monday Night Football matchup featured Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow and Cleveland’s Jacoby Brissett – the former LSU national champion and the quarterback who led Cincinnati to the Super Bowl last year against a career journeyman. However, Burrow continued his streak of futility against Cleveland – a team he has yet to beat in five tries now, as the Browns got after him with a ferocious pass rush. Brissett made enough throws to keep the offense going, while Nick Chubb pounded the ball for 101 yards and two touchdowns in an emphatic 32-13 Cleveland win. Which games will feature more impact from quarterback play this week? Let our preview help you make your sports betting choices.

NFL News: Quarterback Matchups in Week 9

Thursday, November 2

Philadelphia Eagles (-13) at Houston Texans
(8:15 pm ET, Prime Video)

Davis Mills really deserves a better talent pool around him, but that’s life with the Texans. Meanwhile, Jalen Hurts is putting on a show in Philadelphia, growing in confidence each week. He hooked up with A.J. Brown for three touchdown passes last week.

Sunday, November 6

L.A. Chargers (-3) at Atlanta Falcons
(12:00 pm ET, FOX)

Don’t look now, but the Atlanta Falcons lead the NFC South! After beating Carolina in overtime, the Falcons now have a 4-4 record – and could be 6-2 with some better luck. Marcus Mariota is not an explosive passer, but he can make tough throws and can move the ball with his feet. That could spell trouble for a Chargers team that makes Justin Herbert vulnerable to the pass rush with their iffy blocking.

Miami Dolphins (-4.5) at Chicago Bears
(12:00 pm ET, CBS)

Justin Fields is figuring out how to get the RPO game working to his benefit, and Miami also has a high-flying offense, as Tua Tagovailoa has Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill putting up huge numbers. Both of them broke the 100-yard mark last week as the Dolphins edged out the Lions.

Carolina Panthers (+8) at Cincinnati Bengals
(12:00 pm ET, FOX)

P.J. Walker threw for 317 yards on the Panthers’ overtime loss last week, as Carolina scored 34 on the road. D.J. Moore had 152 receiving yards but also had a costly celebration penalty that let the Falcons back into the game. Walker looks like he’s ready for an extended tryout at quarterback. This week, he will face a Joe Burrow who is ready to work out some frustrations from Monday night – and could have Ja’Marr Chase back.

Green Bay Packers (-3.5) at Detroit Lions
(12:00 pm ET, FOX)

Aaron Rodgers just doesn’t have the talent around him to lead sustained drives up and down the field. The running game can do damage, but when the Packers fall behind, it’s hard to catch up with handoffs to Aaron Jones. Detroit is getting a terrific season out of Jared Goff, but the Lions’ defense has a lot of holes.

Indianapolis Colts (+6) at New England Patriots
(12:00 pm ET, CBS)

Sam Ehlinger held his own in his first start for the Colts last week, but they lost by one to Washington. Mac Jones came back to start for the Patriots last week and had a serviceable day but only threw for 194 yards, threw a pick, and took six sacks.

Buffalo Bills (-13) at N.Y. Jets
(12:00 pm ET, CBS)

Josh Allen looks unstoppable these days, and he is learning to slide more when he runs the ball, which will make him more durable. Zach Wilson is improving for the Jets, but he still turns the ball over too often.

Minnesota Vikings (-3) at Washington Commanders
(12:00 pm ET, FOX)

Kirk Cousins is doing a good job staying out of the way of Dalvin Cook, but he also has improved his ball security this year while continuing to make explosive plays. Taylor Heinicke has shown, once again, that he is a serviceable backup that can lead the Commanders to wins, but not necessarily against top contenders.

Las Vegas Raiders (-1.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars
(12:00 pm ET, CBS)

What happened to Derrek Carr? The Raiders just got blanked by New Orleans. Trevor Lawrence couldn’t lead Jacksonville to a win over a dismal Denver team in London last week and has the jet lag to deal with as the Raiders show up for an early start.

Seattle Seahawks (+2.5) at Arizona Cardinals
(4:05 pm ET, FOX)

Geno Smith continues to impress with his decision-making and his ability to hit big throws down the field. Kyler Murray threw for 326 yards last week, with 159 of those yards going to DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins’ return has rejuvenated the Arizona offense – but can the Cards’ defense help out?

L.A. Rams (+3.5) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
(4:25 pm ET, CBS)

Matthew Stafford appears to be caught in the same funk as the rest of his team, and the injury to Cooper Kupp makes his number of options even fewer.

Tennessee Titans (+11) at Kansas City Chiefs
(8:20 pm ET, NBC)

Malik Willis didn’t have to do a whole lot against Houston last week, as Derrick Henry tied an NFL record with his sixth 200+ yard rushing game. Ryan Tannehill remains questionable for this week; we can expect an update on Wednesday. The Kansas City Chiefs, of course, have Patrick Mahomes, so the offense should be ready to jet after a bye week.

Monday, November 7

Baltimore Ravens (-3) at New Orleans Saints
(8:15 pm ET, ESPN)

Lamar Jackson threw well out of the pocket in a win over Tampa Bay last week, and he takes on a Saints team led by Andy Dalton – still a solid pocket passer, but very prone to the bad interception.
