Nodwin Gaming acquires Comic Con India

NODWIN Gaming, a leading name in South Asia’s esports and gaming sector and a subsidiary of Nazara Technologies, has announced a significant acquisition of Comic Con India. The acquisition, valued at ₹55 crore, is a mix of cash and stock transactions. As per the deal, NODWIN Gaming will acquire a 100% stake in Comic Con India, and the founders of Comic Con India, Jatin Varma and Karan Kalra, will continue to manage the business under the NODWIN Gaming umbrella.

This acquisition is strategic for NODWIN Gaming as it aims to further diversify and strengthen its offerings to the youth. It plans to increase the number of festivals hosted by Comic Con India and extend its reach to capture new audiences across India and other countries. Comic Con India, known for organizing pop culture festivals in major cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai, celebrates various aspects of pop culture including comics, cosplay, movies, TV shows, merchandise, and gaming.

Akshat Rathee, Co-founder and Managing Director of NODWIN Gaming, expressed excitement about the integration of Comic Con India into NODWIN’s portfolio. He believes that this acquisition will amplify and diversify NODWIN’s offerings, adding a strong and scalable intellectual property that aligns with the intersection of gaming, pop culture, and esports. Rathee emphasized that this strategic move will elevate their quest for attracting millions of fans across the world.

The founders of Comic Con India, Jatin Varma and Karan Kalra, also shared their enthusiasm for the partnership. Varma stated that for over a decade, they have worked to build a unique space in India for promoting and celebrating popular culture, and he is excited to join hands with NODWIN Gaming. Kalra added that their aim has always been to put fans first, and this strategic partnership will enable them to deliver amazing events and experiences to pop culture fans across India.

NODWIN Gaming, valued at $349 million, has established a global presence in regions such as South Asia, Singapore, the Middle East, and Turkey. The company builds and monetizes gaming and esports IPs, including leagues, tournaments, and reality shows. Notable investors in NODWIN include Nazara, Krafton Inc, Sony Group Corporation, and JetSynthesys.

The acquisition of Comic Con India by NODWIN Gaming is a significant milestone in the entertainment industry, particularly in the esports and gaming sector, marking a strategic expansion that could redefine the entertainment landscape both in India and globally.
