Official: chelo joins Imperial

Imperial have completed the signing of chelo from MIBR, with the 24-year-old joining the roster in place of veteran Lincoln “fnx” Lau, who transitioned into a coaching and content creation role for the organization on Sunday.

The 24-year-old was signed for a reported sum of $200,000, with the team hoping he will add some much-needed firepower as they turn their attention to ESL Challenger Melbourne and the Americas RMR for the IEM Rio Major.

chelo will be Imperial’s fifth player instead of fnx

fnx had been Imperial‘s lowest-rated player since the team’s formation, being the only one sitting in the red after the first eight months of the year with a 0.90 rating. chelo, conversely, was MIBR‘s second-best performer, averaging a 1.16 rating in 2022 and even taking up in-game leadership duties after Adriano “WOOD7” Cerato was moved to the bench.

That skillset and individual prowess will be on showcase under the Imperial banner starting on September 2 when they kick off their tournament run in Australia, where $100,000 and a spot in the ESL Pro League Season 17 Conference will be on the line.

Imperial‘s new roster is:

Brazil Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo
Brazil Fernando “fer” Alvarenga
Brazil Ricardo “boltz” Prass
Brazil Vinicius “VINI” Figueiredo
Brazil Marcelo “chelo” Cespedes

Brazil Lincoln “fnx” Lau (coach/streamer)
