We take a look at which heroes we think are going to be worth their salt when Overwatch 2 launches.
We are less than 4 months away from the arrival of Overwatch 2, one of Blizzard’s most anticipated games. After waiting for a couple of years, the devs finally gave us what we wanted. Although some fans are disappointed with the new content, nicknaming it “Overwatch 1.5”, the game actually features tons of changes that will be exciting to see.
Aside from the new maps, battle passes and skins, we will also have access to tons of hero changes. We will have three new heroes to choose from, two of which seem interesting. With that being said, we are yet to see how they will work in the new game and the setups that they will fit in.
Many people who will play OW 2 already have experience with the first version of the game. However, others will make their first steps in the franchise, which is why we’ve decided to share a few heroes that they should focus on. Keep in mind that many of the things you might read here could change once the game becomes available.
Cassidy

The first name that comes to mind when talking about some of the best heroes in Overwatch 2 is Cassidy. Even though other heroes have gone through more changes, it seems like this will be one of the top-tier DPS heroes in the upcoming game.
Cassidy has some new things that will make him one of the top-tier DPS heroes. Even though the hero can’t rely on his Flashbang anymore, he has a new ability called Magnetic Grenade. It allows him to throw a grenade that sticks to enemies and can deal up to 131 damage. In other words, this grenade will increase his damage output even more.
Aside from the hero’s new ability, his Fan of the Hammer fire rate will be increased by 7.5%. This will increase his damage because he will be able to kill his targets even faster.
Speaking of killing someone, Overwatch 2 will also introduce a couple of changes to Deadeye. When used, Cassidy will gain a 40% damage reduction. Furthermore, the ultimate will deal 130 damage/second for the first two seconds, after which this number will go to 260/second. In other words, Cassidy should be able to use his ult more frequently and get more kills.
Even though some people won’t be happy that Cassidy no longer has a stun, the new grenade looks very promising. After playing the beta for a while, we can safely say that it is easy to use, making it really effective.
Mei

The second DPS hero that you should focus on when playing Overwatch 2 is Mei. She is one of the least popular heroes in Overwatch, especially among lower-rated players. Due to her low damage output and the fact that you can make a lot of mistakes while playing, many players preferred to avoid her.
It seems like Blizzard was unhappy with the hero’s current state because they’ve changed a lot of things for Overwatch 2. Although Mei has no new abilities, her existing ones are very different.
Starting with her primary fire mode, it no longer stuns enemies. Instead, it slows them for 50% of their movement speed and deals almost twice as much damage. In other words, Mei is now one of the deadliest heroes you can face in a close-range fight.
Sadly, the high damage output comes at a cost because the hero’s Ice Wall is not as strong as it was. Aside from losing almost 50% of its HP, the wall now has a maximum range of 20 meters. In other words, Mei won’t be able to block her opponents as well as before.
Another essential thing about Mei in Overwatch 2 is that her ultimate will now cost 15% more points to cast. This nerf was expected because the combination of doing 100 DPS and a fast-charging ultimate deadly.
Last but not least, Mei’s Cryo-Freeze won’t be able to remove Sigma’s annoying Gravitic Flux. This is another nerf that many people will agree with because Mei easily countered one of the most complex tanks in the game.
Orisa

Despite the fact that most of you are fans of DPS heroes, Overwatch has tons of cool tanks that can make a difference while playing. Orisa was one of the top picks in Overwatch because her shields and damage increase allowed her to fin in numerous setups. However, the developers behind Overwatch 2 decided to change this hero from the ground up and provide it with many new abilities. Consequently, Orisa was one of the strongest heroes during the beta.
Instead of having Halt!, Protective Barrier, and Supercharger, Orisa now has Augmented Fisio Driver, Energy Javelin, Terra Surge and Javelin Spin. Those abilities allow the hero to deal significantly more damage and even have some CC. However, she is not as tanky as before, so you must be more careful while playing.
We’ve tried playing the hero in all sorts of combos, and it worked pretty well. However, we are yet to see what will the pros players come up with.
Sojourn

Even though we think that Junker Queen should also be on this list, we do not have that much information about the hero yet. What’s more, we haven’t had the chance to put her to the test, which is not true for Sojourn.
This DPS hero didn’t seem that impressive at first, but after spending some time with it, we can safely say it will be amazing. Sojourn can deal tons of damage and can easily escape most tricky situations. However, she requires you to have a good aim to land your shots because she is similar to Solider: 76. In other words, you have to be an excellent aimer to succeed.
We expect to have even more information about Overwatch 2 in the next couple of months. Don’t forget that the game is free to play, and it will allow you to use the skins you’ve acquired in Overwatch. It will also offer you brand-new maps and tons of other small things.
