Overwatch 2 Will Go Offline Briefly to Address Release Day Issues

Just when Overwatch fans finally got their chance to log into the sequel, they were met with frustration and disappointment. Overwatch 2 went live on October 4 and there are thousands of players that are waiting in the same astronomical queue times. And even the lucky few that have managed to get into the game, there is solid chance they could get booted from the server for seemingly no reason at all. Fortunately for players everywhere Blizzard plans on making an adjustment as soon as possible.

On Thursday October 6, the Overwatch 2 team announced they would be taking the game offline to address the wide variety of issues that plagued players on the initial release. The downtime will focus on fixing the problems surrounding account merging, the login times and the First Time User Experience. Later in the night, Overwatch 2 will go down again for a much longer duration in order to adjust the back-end issues to solve queue times.

Overwatch 2 will go down at 3pm PDT for about an hour, and then go offline once again at around 6pm PDT for roughly 3 hours.

The announcement could not have come at a better time, as players are growing more and more frustrated with the status of the game. Players have noted issues with adding friends to lobbies, missing skins from Overwatch 1 and even some graphic glitches. Blizzard stated earlier that the server issues were the result of a target DDoS attack. Truly the worst thing to happen for a game that has a lot of expectations on its shoulders.

Fans of Overwatch are hoping that these small amount of downtime will solve these growing pains in record time.
