Palworld Devs Announce New Features To Counter Cheaters

Over the past few weeks, Pocket Pair’s action-adventure title Palworld has taken the internet by storm. The game that seems to take inspiration from the Pokemon franchise has hit the headlines of the gaming industry for breaking one record after another and hitting a concurrent player peak of a whopping 2.1 million players on Steam.

However, Palworld’s ascent has not been without its challenges. The game has found itself amid several controversies and has faced several hurdles within the short span since its early access release in January 2024.

One of the major issues that has been plaguing Palworld recently is the prevalence of cheaters in its multiplayer servers. Players have repeatedly voiced their concerns on social media forums, reporting instances of cheaters vandalizing bases, stealing pals, and crashing servers.

While Palworld has already taken a few measures to curb the rise of cheaters in the game, they haven’t been very effective.

However, a recent blog post from the Palworld development team offers a glimmer of hope for players, discussing potential measures the devs are considering to combat cheating.

The first important addition to the game is set to come in the form of a “player list function” in late February.

“We plan to release a player list function for servers in an update at the end of February,” Pocket Pair said in a statement. “Through this, we will strengthen the identification of players who engage in cheating and the suspension of their use by the development team.”

On top of that, an external anti-cheat solution also seems to be on the horizon to combat the rising number of cheaters. The use of this function is optional in community servers, single-player, and co-op.

Lastly, the devs have said that they’ll continue to “take thorough measures against further cheating and fraudulent activities” moving forward.
