Pegasus (Seiya)

Pegasus (Seiya)

The vast majority of Lords Mobile heroes are original creations. Sure, they’re generic and a lot of them look like thinly-veiled copies from other games, but they’re all IGG-owned. Pegasus is different, as he was created over 25 years before Lords Mobile even came out.

He comes from the Saint Seiya manga series. In 2021, IGG arranged a crossover event with Saint Seiya to bring Pegasus to the game. So, was it worth it? Read on for my full thoughts and impressions on this one-of-a-kind hero.

Who Is Pegasus?

Who Is PegasusWho Is Pegasus

Unlike pretty much all of the other Lords Mobile heroes, Seiya has a proper backstory. He’s part of a hugely popular manga series that has sold tens of millions of copies around the globe. I am not going to tell you his entire story. That would take way too long. Go read the manga if you really care. It involves Greek gods, magic armor, Zodiac signs, and a lot of fighting. All you really need to know about Seiya is that he’s super powerful, even though he looks like a kid in a trick-or-treat costume his mom made.

Now let’s talk about how good Pegasus actually is in-game. Well, let’s be real here, it would have been pretty embarrassing for IGG and Saint Seiya if the hero turned out to be useless. They obviously needed to juice him up and give him some good skills to get players hyped up about the crossover event.

So, Pegasus does have some nice abilities. He’s got very good Battle Skills to boost your infantry and army HP. He also has some very flashy Hero Skills and can bring himself back from the dead. However, he’s not perfect.

He’s a good tank and can soak up lots of hits, but he doesn’t do as much damage as I feel like he should. There are P2P and even F2P heroes who often work just as well, if not better. Plus, at the risk of angering a million anime fans, I don’t like his face. I don’t like yours either, but that’s not really relevant.

All in all, I’m giving Pegasus a 6.5/10. He’s an above-average hero, but not one of my personal favorites. It’s not necessary to buy him unless you’re a big fan of the manga.

Specification

I don’t have to justify my ratings to anybody, especially you. But, in this section, I’ll go through Pegasus’ abilities and show you why I think he’s good, but not great. I’ll start off with a look at his Battle Skills:

Battle SkillsBattle Skills
  • Pegasus Star: This deals up to 200% squad ATK in the form of damage to enemy troops.
  • Battle Song: This raises army HP by a very pleasant 25% (at Gold level), but only when Pegasus is deployed.
  • Infantry DEF Boost: Another When Deployed skill, this boosts infantry DEF by up to 50%. Pretty boring.
  • Infantry ATK Boost: Also when deployed, Pegasus improves infantry ATK by 30%.

These are nice boosts. But a F2P hero like Demon Slayer also offers the same infantry ATK and HP increases. And there are P2P heroes who can improve the ATK and DEF of your entire army, like Berserker. That’s why I feel that Pegasus is decent, but not exactly mind-blowing.

Let’s see if his Hero Skills are any better:

Pegasus Hero SkillsPegasus Hero Skills
  • Pegasus Meteor Fist: This is Pegasus’ ultimate attack. It deals solid area-of-effect (AoE) damage 10 times in quite a large area.
  • Comet Crush: This attack involves Pegasus speeding forwards across the screen and damaging anything nearby. It doesn’t do a ton of damage, and it doesn’t have great range.
  • Athena’s Call: This is a revive skill. If Seiya is killed, he comes back to life five seconds later with 70% of his HP refilled. He also regenerates MP for 10 seconds. Very useful for a tank.
  • Cosmo Power: This passive skill increases Seiya’s Pierce.

There are some nice skills here. It’s always useful to have a hero who can revive themselves if you’re up against a strong Colosseum team or difficult monster. The “Pegasus Meteor Fist” ability is also very effective. It’s just a shame that “Comet Crush” isn’t so useful. Due to a lot of his power budget being on the revive, Seiya is more of a damage absorber than a damage dealer.

I’ll finish up with a few more specifications about what Seiya is:

  • Type: Infantry
  • Class: Strength
  • Species: Human
  • Sex: Male
  • Movement: Running

How to Unlock the Pegasus

How to Unlock the PegasusHow to Unlock the Pegasus

If you’re wondering how to unlock Pegasus at this stage, you already missed out. Back in 2021, during the collab event, every player was given this hero for free just for logging into the game.

Back then, it was also possible to earn items called “Athena’s Blessing” through limited challenges. You could exchange those items for medals to boost Pegasus’ rank. It took time and effort, but it was doable.

These days, for all you latecomers, there are no free medals or “Athena’s Blessings” to earn. The only way to get your grubby hands on Pegasus is to pay up.

You can buy medals via the Limited Medal Shop, and they’re not cheap. A single medal costs $2.99. That’s $29.99 for 10 medals or $89.99 for 30. You need 10 just to unlock Pegasus and 330 to max him out, which, according to my calculator, is almost a thousand bucks.

Pegasus and the Colosseum

Pegasus and the ColosseumPegasus and the Colosseum

The main benefit of Pegasus in the Colosseum is his revive ability. Apart from that, just like you, he’s not very special. He’s good at taking lots of hits and soaking up damage, giving your other heroes time to hit back, but he won’t win you any fights on his own.

Pegasus in Colosseum BattlePegasus in Colosseum Battle

He doesn’t get a spot in my best Colosseum lineups, and I almost never use him there. It’s not that he’s bad, but there are other tank-style characters who are simply better.

Rallying with Pegasus

Rallying is what Pegasus is best at. His infantry ATK and DEF boosts make him an ideal infantry commander. Plus, he has that army HP buff to help all of your troops take more damage and last longer in battle. So, if you’re preparing for a big battle and need someone to take charge of your footsoldiers, Pegasus is a decent choice.

Monster Hunting with Pegasus

I almost never use Pegasus for monster hunting. That’s not because he’s useless or ineffective, but there are simply better heroes out there. And when you’re a professional player like me, you don’t settle for second best.

If you’re facing a low-level monster that dishes out lots of damage and has a weakness to physical attacks, give Pegasus a try. He’ll definitely help you out, and his revive ability could turn the tides in certain fights. For most other situations, there are way better options.

Tips and Trivia

  • Pegasus Seiya joined Lords Mobile on March 30, 2021.
  • F2P Alternatives: Demon Slayer is one of the best F2P alternatives to Pegasus. He improves infantry ATK and HP, as well as having a nice little trap ATK increase mixed in with his Battle Skills. Oath Keeper helps with infantry ATK and HP too, but he’s useless in Hero mode.
  • P2P Alternatives: Grim Wolf is a terrific P2P alternative to Pegasus, providing exactly the same army and infantry increases. The big bad wolf also has pretty nice Hero Skills which can make him useful in Hero mode.
