PlayStation Is Working on a Gravity Rush Movie

Gravity Rush could be the next PlayStation game heading to the screen.

According to Deadline, PlayStation Productions and Scott Free Productions have begun development on a movie based on the Japan Studios action game. Anna Mastro (Secret Society of Second Born Royals) is attached as director with a script from Emily Jerome (Panopticon).

Gravity Rush was released in 2012 for the PlayStation Vita and centered around Kat, a girl with no memories and the ability to manipulate gravity. She uses these abilities to fly around the floating city of Heksville and defeat monsters called the Nevi, all while trying to uncover her past.

The Best PS4 Games (Summer 2020 Update)

This will be the latest PlayStation game to be developed for the screen since Sony launched its PlayStation Productions label. Other movies and shows in the works include Twisted Metal, Ghost of Tsushima, Gran Turismo, and Horizon.

There is also The Last of Us which got its first preview this weekend ahead of the House of the Dragon premiere where we finally got a good look at Pedro Pascal’s Joel and Bella Ramsey’s Ellie.

PlayStation Productions was started in 2019 with the goal of adapting PlayStation video games for TV and film. With all of Sony’s major first-party games like God of War, Horizon, and The Last of Us already in development, cult-titles like Gravity Rush are also up for grabs.

What lesser-known game would you like to see PlayStation adapt next?
