PlayStation Just Reached A Huge Milestone For Total Number Of Monthly Users

As part of Sony’s Consumer Electronics Show briefing this week, the company announced a huge new milestone for the PlayStation platform. In December 2023, the entire PlayStation ecosystem reached 123 million active users, which CEO Kenichiro Yoshida said was a new record.

According to VGC, MAU is defined by Sony as the approximate number of unique accounts that logged into the PlayStation Network to use a service or play a game.

He didn’t clarify what kind of “record” this is, so it’s unclear if this is an all-time record for any month or a record for a December month specifically, or something else entirely. Whatever the case, the result came not long after the PS5 passed 50 million consoles sold.

November 2023 was the best month in PlayStation’s history for PlayStation sales, spanning all eras for PlayStation, including PS4, PS3, PS2, and the original PlayStation.

Also during Sony’s CES briefing, the company controlled a car with a PS5 controller, gave updates on the God of War and Horizon TV shows, and praised Nintendo.
