Pokemon Legends Z-A Starters: Tier List

Below is a Tier List of All the Pokemon Starters and their chances of being the Pokemon Legends Z-A Starters.

Nope Tier

These are the “Nope Tier” Pokemon. They are here only because they were the starters in Pokemon Legends Arceus. There were a few other Pokemon here originally but after watching some videos and reading other opinions, there were outside chances they could get in. Thus they were moved up a tier.

Unlikely

The unlikely tier is mainly full of starters from Gens 2, 5 and 7 because the Legends Arceus starters were from those gens. It feels like the Pokemon Company will want starters from different generations. Then Bulbasaur and Squirtle are added mainly because they were already in Gen 6 and received mega forms. Plus they are in more games than every other starter and to add them as the main starters in Z-A feels like it would be a mistake.

Could Happen

This is the tier where it seems like certain starters could make their way into the game.

The Gen 3 starters are not higher because they already have mega evolutions. There are arguments out there that they may not give the starters Mega evolutions but that feels unlikely this time around. These three could absolutely make it into the game but giving the Gen 3 starters another Mega evolution might make fans a bit upset.

Now the Gen 6 starters never got megas and they will obviously be in the game. It just doesn’t feel like they will be as the starters for Z-A. One of the things that everyone like about Arceus was that it was three starters that had never been together in a game before. The mixture was interesting. That being said, if they wanted to, they could absolutely add the Gen 6 starters as the main ones and finally give them megas. That being said, it feels more likely that they will be like the Gen 4 starters in Arceus and be available in the wild.

Lastly, there is Charmander. Sure it has two mega forms already but Charizard is one of the most popular Pokemon in the franchise and there is no way they won’t at least consider adding a Charizard Z Mega evolution right? This is the only reason that Charmander is not in the unlikely section.

Likely

Now we are into the starters that could be in the game. They consist of the Gen 4, Gen 8 and Gen 9 starters.

Sure, Gen 4 starters were just in BDSP and Arceus but they have a few things going for them. One, they do not have Mega Evolutions. Two, they were not the starters in Arceus and can easily get a new form. And lastly, they need three gens to go with the other two.

For Gens 8 and 9, it is simply that they do no have Megas and were not available at all in Arceus. It does feel like it would be very soon for them to get in Z-A but there are relatively limited choices with everything else considered.

Most Likely

Truthfully, it could be any one of the three possible starters from Gens 4, 8 and 9. This take is mainly that all three of these Pokemon were arguably the most popular from each of their generations and they just seem to fit well with each other.

Anyone who makes an argument with more gusto than that either has great sources or reasonings that were not thought of as to why the rest below likely could find their way into the game.

It is not impossible by any stretch for any starters outside of the three in Arceus.
